Associate Professor Lis Evered, Dept of Critical Care, University of Melbourne, Australia, and Scientific Head of Research, St. Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne. Dr Evered is an Honorary Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA).
Dr. Evered has published extensively and holds many leadership appointments on scientific advisory panels, guideline development committees and relevant medical societies. Dr Evered is Geriatric Section Editor for Anesthesia & Analgesia and reviews for several high impact journals.
Her main area of research interest is untangling perioperative neurocognitive disorders (PND), with a focus on postoperative delirium (POD) and progression to dementia, including biomarker and intervention strategies, both pharmacological and non-pharmacological, to reduce or prevent these poor outcomes in older individuals.
Dr Evered was named Top Australian Researcher in Anesthesiology for 2023 and 2024 in the annual research report from our national newspaper, The Australian. Dr Evered is currently working on the establishment of a Brain Health Biomarker Centre at Pathology, St. Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne, for research and routine diagnostic assays for neurodegenerative diseases.
