It is our great pleasure and honour to be the convenors of the 2025 Australian Society of Anaesthetists’ National Scientific Congress in Canberra. Our committee is excited to deliver a meeting that will be stimulating, interesting, and relevant whilst showcasing the highlights of Australia’s capital.

Canberra is a special part of Australia known for its rich history, vibrant cultural scene, and stunning natural beauty. There are national institutions like Parliament House, the National Gallery of Australia, the Australian War Memorial, and the National Museum, along with beautiful parks, lakes, and a buzzing food and drink scene. It is perfectly situated for exploring the surrounding regions, including the Snowy Mountains, Brindabella Ranges and numerous National Parks. The 2025 NSC will be held at the National Convention Centre, centrally located in the nation’s capital close to accommodation options and restaurants.

The scientific program will run from Thursday 2 October to Sunday 5 October 2025 and will include thought-provoking lectures and plenaries, outstanding masterclasses, workshops, and practice evaluations run by international and Australian experts.

The name “Canberra” means Meeting Place in the language of the Ngunnawal people. To complement this, the theme of our meeting is “Come Together” – and we have created a program to match. This event is more than just a conference—it’s a gathering of minds, a celebration of innovation, and a unique opportunity to connect with peers and leaders in the field of anaesthesia. We have an absolute all-star line-up of keynote speakers including Professor Tim Cook, Professor Cynthia Wong, Professor Edward Mariano and Professor Alicia Dennis with many others still to be announced!

There will be many opportunities to mingle and socialise including welcome drinks, a gala dinner, and relaxed social events. We encourage you to register for the congress to take advantage of the excellent education programs, develop your networks and enjoy all that Canberra has to offer.
