We have been given the privilege of convening the conjoint ASA NSC/QLD ACE CME meeting in Brisbane, 23-25th July 2021.
It is exciting to have our committees working together with the common goal of bringing you a great educational event, coupled with an opportunity to reconnect with colleagues and the many that support us.
No one could have foreseen the challenges our anaesthetic communities would face in 2020, and how we have needed to adapt and display great flexibility in our working and personal lives. It also highlighted how vital collaborative and continuing education is to our profession, our patients, and to society as a whole.
We celebrate the 80th anniversary of the NSC this year and it’s very fitting that the gift for this is the pearl, said to represent something endurable and unconquerable, which we think you’ll agree speaks to how we’ve all responded. We are optimistic that 2021 will allow us to return to some aspects of ‘normal’ life, and that we will together continue to shape what this ‘new normal’ will look like.
Our joint scientific committee continues to work on a programme that will bring you a wealth of knowledge in varied areas, there will be something of interest no matter what aspect of anaesthetics you are involved in. We aim to provide opportunities for participation not only in a great lecture series, but also workshops, discussion groups, Q&A sessions with experts, and quality assurance activities.
New for 2021, we are offering a limited hybrid format, opening up the option for delegates to view and interact with program sessions virtually, as well as welcoming you onsite at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The Networking Function and Exhibitor Welcome drinks will take place on the Friday evening, and will be a great opportunity to meet with industry colleagues, enjoying drinks and canapés in a relaxed setting. Our social function on the Saturday evening is to be held at the Queensland Art Gallery Watermall and will be ticketed separately. We suggest booking early as celebrating together in this fabulous location is sure to be popular.
So on behalf of the entire organising committee we would like to extend an invitation to you to be part of this great event. We are hoping that you will be able to embrace the opportunity to join us in Brisbane, where we show what you can achieve by working together.
Many thanks,
Dr Peta Lorraway & Dr Ed Pilling
